ENG
The goal of the project was to define a new image of the Lazio Region, basing it on the values of tradition and expertise by reconnecting the territory through architecture and then using the aqueducts as a tangible and valuable symbol by transforming the inter-pavilion into a living expression of regional wealth. The rhythm of the arches becomes the fundamental element that welcomes and enhances the different producers, representing them as the lifeblood of the region. An imposing dark wood counter, containing the wine excellence of the regional wineries, symbolizes the unity of the region in a message of power and cohesion. Graphics and images envelop the common spaces, creating an engaging and enveloping atmosphere. Hanging curtains, evocative of the silhouette of aqueducts, diffuse light and ensure acoustic comfort in the pavilion. The clever use of tactile materials and colors tells of the different souls of the area, from hills to lakes, mountains to the sea. The deep blue floor, a symbol of Lazio Region’s institutional identity, provides a comfortable and cohesive support for all rooms. Outside, a tensile structure wrapped in sheets illustrates the aqueduct and an ancient map, outlining the pavilion’s volume and communicating its essence. Inside, a neutral environment highlights key elements, such as aqueduct profiles.
